Taxali Gate, Lahore, Pakistan

Taxali Gate, Lahore, Pakistan

The "Taxali Gate," also known as the Taxal (royal mint), was built during the Mughal reign. There is a very famous shoe market located here known as Sheikupurian Bazar. There are a variety of foods available in and around this gate - one of the most beloved being Sri Pai from Fazal Din alias "Phajja." Taj Mehal and Shahbudin Halwi are a couple of the more popular sweet stores. This is one of the 12 Doors of LAhore. Although, no more in existance, its location can be traced by visiting the area. Recommended for visit by locals as well as tourists. Those desiring to have taste of "payas" of Phajja, would love to see the site of the gate as well.
